Meet Simon — Owner & Manager
I'm Simon Ball, and I've owned and run Pet Aqua for over 25 years. In that time, I've watched Chatham High Street change enormously. Big names like Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, and Woolworths have come and gone, but Pet Aqua is still here.
We've weathered the rises and falls of the high street by doing two things: changing with the trends, and — most importantly — practising old-fashioned customer service. I've always believed that if we look after our customers, they'll look out for us. And they have. That's why we're still here.
Every customer who walks through the door gets honest, practical advice — whether you're setting up your first aquarium, switching your dog to a raw diet, or just looking for the right treats. My team and I are always happy to help, and we will never sell you something you don't need.
Aquarium Fish & Aquatics
We stock a wide range of aquarium fish at our Chatham shop, including tropical fish, coldwater fish, temperate fish, and pond fish. Every fish is carefully sourced and quarantined before it reaches our tanks, and we're proud to offer a 7-day fish guarantee for your peace of mind.
Alongside our fish, we carry tanks, filters, lighting, substrate, water treatments, and everything you need to set up and maintain a healthy aquarium. Our team are experienced fishkeepers who can advise beginners and seasoned aquarists alike.
Dog Food, Cat Food & Raw Diet
We stock our own brand of grain-free dry food called Excellence, made with high-quality ingredients for dogs and cats. Our range includes grain-free dog food, grain-free cat food, and specialist options like urinary care formulas for cats.
We also offer a comprehensive raw dog food diet — our Excellence Raw range, crafted by a skilled butcher who specialises in raw food for dogs and cats. Each recipe is expertly balanced with the right proportions of protein, bone, vegetables, and oils. Raw food is available for local delivery or collection from our shop in Chatham.
Natural Dog Treats & Chews
We take pride in our selection of natural treats for dogs. We exclusively carry nutritious, single-ingredient treats and chews — and we've banned all rawhide and other items considered unhealthy. Reptile Food — Live & Frozen
We provide both live and frozen reptile food, with stock replenished weekly to ensure freshness. Whether you need live insects, frozen mice, or frozen rats, we keep a regular supply so your reptiles are always well fed.
Birds — Budgies, Cockatiels & Conures
We sell budgies, cockatiels, and sometimes conures, depending on what's available. All our birds are healthy, well cared for, and ready to become a welcome addition to your home.
We also stock a full range of premium bird seeds and feeds, along with cages, perches, toys, and accessories to keep your feathered friends happy and healthy. Whether you're a first-time bird owner or an experienced keeper, we can help you choose the right bird and everything you need to look after it.
Wild Bird Feed & Small Animal Supplies
We also stock wild bird feed, seed, suet, and feeders, plus supplies for small animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters. If we don't stock something you need, just ask — we'll do our best to source it for you.
